#2: Entering a Loving Moment and Reducing “Mind Chatter.”

Entering a loving moment:

As you learned from my intro book, The Unseen Therapist, the first part of our Personal Peace Procedure involves recalling a loving moment. This is very easy to do, although it is often misunderstood by many newcomers. It does not require you to create a “Hollywood moment” with angels, harps and deep spiritual love. Indeed, such a state represents a highly advanced achievement and one we aspire toward in the long run. We can hardly expect to enter it as new students.

Instead, we need only recall a loving moment. It could also be a happy moment or a moment of gratitude. It could be a good feeling while petting your dog or a giggling moment with a child. It could be a warm feeling from a movie or a peaceful moment in nature. Its purpose is to simply align yourself, as best you can, with the loving nature of The Unseen Therapist. Perfection is not required. A simple intention will do.

The Unseen Therapist needs only your willingness and is not standing in judgement with a scowl on Her face saying, “Do it right or forget it.” On the contrary, She lovingly awaits your willingness. She needs only your invitation and your mere attempt at this loving moment will do. With that simple intention you are saying, “I am open. Please help.” That will suffice. Please don’t make it any more difficult than that.

Reducing mind chatter:

While perfection is not required to get results with The Personal Peace Procedure, most of us encounter interfering mind chatter in our first attempts. Although results can be achieved despite this chatter, many  appreciate a way to reduce it.

Some beginners close their eyes and focus on their breathing as a means of silencing the chatter. Others focus on their heartbeats while still others count down slowly from 10 to 1. Any of these, with practice, can assist you in entering a loving state.

Another method involves the tapping form of EFT and is not well known to the meditation community.  As you will see in the specially designed video below, it can be highly effective and superior to other methods. Once you master the art of getting quiet (for example, I can now get quiet instantly in a noisy restaurant), you will have less need for these tools.

Whether or not you are new to EFT, you can simply follow along in the video as I instruct the audience in the tapping procedure. Until you are comfortable with the process and can do it on your own, you may wish to replay the video before each Optimal EFT session.


Radiating Love Exercise:

A useful tool for getting ourselves into, and maintaining, a loving moment is the Radiating Love Exercise. This was first introduced as an EFT Tapping method but can also be used even more effectively with The Unseen Therapist. The following video is from our Borrowing Benefits series and contains the original EFT Tapping instruction. That instruction starts at around 29 minutes.

  4. Be sure to imagine yourself being an audience participant in the video and follow the instructions, including the tapping. Do this a few times to get the feel for it.
